Quick & Easy Valentine’s Day Countdown – Spread the Love

Quick & Easy Valentine’s Day Countdown – Spread the Love

Valentine's Day, Felt Heart, Heart. Love, BabyValentine’s Day will be here soon.  That special occasion created just for Hallmark… er, I mean to give us an opportunity to express our love  because we don’t do it any other day of the year.  Gee… I guess I’m feeling a little cynical this year. Anywho, I came across a neat idea to countdown Valentines Day with the kids and I thought I’d share it now for those who may be interested because there is still one week left!

Too often we worry about what our kids aren’t doing and what they should do more of, so one of the reasons I love this idea is because it has given me the time to not only think about what I love and appreciate most about my little man, but to express that and talk about it daily.

Instructions:

  1. Take some poster board or paper and stick it to your kids bedroom doors
  2. Choose and write a title like, “reasons I love you”
  3. Make some hearts.  We used pre-made foam sticker hearts from the dollarstore but you could easily make your own with plain or construction paper
  4. After your kid is asleep at night, write one of the reasons you love them on the heart and stick it to the poster on their door

Chase has showed some of the same excitement in the mornings that our dear friend Jasper (our elf on the shelf) had induced so this one gets rave reviews!

Here are some ideas for adapting this:

  • Stick hearts directly on your door instead of on a poster board
  • Use hearts made out of paper, felt, or last years valentines
  • Do this for your significant other too
  • Talk about what you wrote on the heart
  • Ask your kids to share what they love about each of the members of your family when they find their new heart each day

Spread the love my friends!
